Make an impact

Cardiac rehabilitation is a program of exercise training and health advice for people who recently had a heart issue (such as a heart attack or heart surgery). Cardiac rehabilitation reduces the risk of returning to the hospital and improves quality of life. Many people don’t participate because it can be difficult to attend in-person. The goal of the MCNAIR study is to compare the effectiveness of in-person and telehealth cardiac rehabilitation.

How it works

You will be asked to participate in either in-person or telehealth cardiac rehabilitation. You will also attend 4 additional study visits over 2 years where we can monitor your health and ask you to complete a few surveys about your health and wellbeing. We will also ask you to complete brief monthly surveys in Eureka. To learn more, click here.

Your data

Your contribution will help researchers better understand who gets the most benefit from in-person or telehealth cardiac rehabilitation. Your data will only be shared with the research study team to gain health insights. We will never sell your data or share your identity. To learn more, read our <<Privacy Policy>>

FAQs

The study is named after our patient partner, Tricia McNair. Tricia attended cardiac rehabilitation for heart failure and believes that attending cardiac rehab saved her life. She is proud to lend her name to the study to represent all of the women and people of color who are less likely to attend cardiac rehab. She hopes to inspire the community to do more to make it easier for people to attend cardiac rehabilitation.
